POSITION SUMMARY Working under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for continuously improving production efficiency by installing, servicing, repairing, adjusting, modifying, troubleshooting and testing machines, devices, moving parts and equipment to ensure their uptime and reliable operation.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Maintaining high-speed production lines, including, but not limited to: rotating equipment; pumps, compressors, motors, drives and conveyors.
Working with automated controls, including, but not limited to: photo eyes, switches-limit, pressure, temperature or flow, pneumatic solenoids and cylinders, Panel View parameters.
Facility maintenance, including, but not limited to: boilers, water systems, compressed air, lighting, and exhaust fans.
Equipment disassembly, replacing worn parts, replacing gaskets and packings, making alignments.
Must be able to read equipment manuals to install, set up, modify or troubleshoot equipment.
Making equipment adjustments.
Preparing processing equipment by making setup adjustments and assisting with changeovers.
Performing preventive maintenance.
Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
Observing operation of equipment to determine efficiency and detect problems.
Inspecting or testing damaged machine parts; marking defective areas and advising supervisors of repair needs.
Recording repair and machine maintenance data.
Reading work orders and specifications to identify machines requiring repair.
Collaborating with coworkers to repair or move machines, parts and equipment.
Monitoring work being performed by outside contractors.
Inspecting equipment and its parts to assure conformance to specifications.
Contribute to maintaining a culture committed to the safety of its employees; reporting unsafe acts and conditions to the appropriate Supervisor.
Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment at the employee’s assigned work station(s).
Other tasks, duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience working production line equipment (i.
e.
fillers, cappers, labelers, case packers, coders, palletizers).
Experience with pipe fitting, welding, three phase motor replacement and general repairs.
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
Ability to read gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure proper machine operation.
Excellent diagnostic, troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Working knowledge and understanding of, MSDS, lock-out/tag-out, and OSHA requirements.
Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with production staff.
Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and set priorities to meet deadlines on schedule.
Ability to influence others and work within cross-functional teams to make responsible decisions.
Possess a high tolerance of ambiguity and flexibility with respect to job functions and working hours in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Preference will be given to candidates with the following: 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with PLC’s.
Experience working as a mechanic on packaging equipment (preferably liquid retail packaging).
Experience in a high-speed line manufacturing or processing industry.
Experience in the automotive industry.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to physically push, pull and lift heavy loads up to 12 hours a day.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent combined with 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
