Controller

Responsibilities include:
Manage bank accounts – set up, close, assign permissions, inventory scanners
Coordinate, review, and approve Journal Entries
Initiate wires and transfers
Send, record, and track client and owner distributions
Establish Balance Sheets with initial entries
Prepare annual 1099s
Supply reports and comments to clients’ accountants, as requested
Oversee bank reconciliation for company and client accounts
Review bank reconciliations for all properties
Review Balance Sheets monthly for all properties, ensuring asset and liability accounts are adjusted accurately
Oversee, review, and track all lender escrow release requests, quarterly for Replacement Reserves, and as needed for Rehab
Monitor all lender disbursements, monthly, and record as needed
Reconcile lender year end statements, annually
Oversee, review, and track AR and AP for company and all properties
Ensure reclassifications are completed monthly
Collaborate as requested with corporate and property budgets
Monitor corporate budget variances, monthly
Prepare and distribute tax preparation reports annually
Audit, reconcile, and coordinate balancing of Security Deposit accounts, monthly
Coordinate fulfillment of management and asset management fees, Management and Group reimbursements, and payroll transfers, monthly
Manage corporate charge card usage and payments
Review, modify, and create accounting and company policies as needed
Manage Accounting team, including corrective action, terminations, recruiting, training, and evaluating
Qualifications:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Must be able to work as a team and independently without direct supervision
Proficient in Microsoft Suite
Strong computer skills required
5+ years of experience as Controller, Jr.
Controller, Senior Accounting Manager, or equivalent
1-2 years of Fortress, Sage, Intacct, Nexus, and Domuso preferred
Accounting degree required
CPA preferred, but not required
Real estate background strongly preferred
