We are seeking an exceptional Accounting Controller to join our dynamic team and take charge of our multi-faceted Accounting Department.
The ideal candidate will be well versed in real estate accounting to include financing, construction, and management.
*Responsibilities:*
* Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
* Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and variance analysis.
* Monitor and analyze key financial metrics to identify trends and provide actionable insights to management.
* Supervise the accounting team, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, adherence to accounting principles, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Review and analyze financial statements, general ledger entries, and reconciliations to maintain strong financial controls.
* Implement and improve procedures (or processes) across software systems to enhance cash flow management.
* Work closely with teams to address billing discrepancies, resolve client inquiries, and ensure timely payments.
* Collaborate with executive leadership to establish financial targets, budgets, and long-term financial plans.
* Prepare and present financial reporting and potential risk areas to senior management
* Oversee both internal and external payroll and tax accounting records and processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
*Qualifications:*
* Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; a master's degree or CPA qualification is preferred.
* Background in property management accounting including 3rd party management.
* Background in accounting for commercial construction
* Preferred knowledge of real estate development procedures
* Ability to facilitate draw requests from banks including AIA forms
* Proficient in QuickBooks
* Preferred experience with Yardi
* Ability to manage and oversee accounting team
* Knowledge of tax codes and how to file taxes for multiple businesses/LLCs
* Strong knowledge of real estate finance, including property valuation, investment analysis, and lease accounting.
* Proficiency in financial management systems and tools, along with advanced Excel skills.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
* Effective leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and motivate a diverse team.
