Mission Contribution: To ensure the efficient and cost effective operation and stewardship of the bookstore in order to maximize profitability and increase training opportunities.
Function: Under the direct supervision of the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager is responsible for customer service, cash register sales, facility security and maintenance, greeting and assisting customers, cleaning, pricing, shelving and rotating books, cleaning and keeping clutter free the break room, restrooms, sales floor, and sorting area.
This position is tasked with key-holding privileges.
Essential Responsibilities: Responsible for greeting customers in a prompt, friendly and courteous manner, offering assistance to customers in locating or selecting merchandise.
Operates POS to ensure accurate and efficient sales data, price, and information codes on books.
Maintains sales floor, break room, restrooms, and sorting area in a clean and uncluttered condition.
Stocks and maintain counter, shelves, endcaps and cash/wrap in a neat and clean condition at all times.
Be aware of current trends, and popular titles to achieve the most donor value from each item Must be able to sort appropriate books for the sales floor.
Should be able to sort approximately 20-25 totes per hour.
Clean, price and place books onto sales floor in correct location and rotate from sales floor as needed.
Adheres to all MGI policies and procedures; follows good safety practices including reporting safety hazards and injuries to the Assistant Store Manager.
Maintains GGC security, relating to theft or pilferage and handling of cash receipts, according to Agency and GGC policies and procedures.
Opens and closes the store as required.
Provides hands-on leadership to other team members.
Performs assigned duties and responsibilities within the framework of our Guiding Principles and Core Values.
Assists with operation and coverage of the ADC in the event of absences and vacations.
May be asked to participate in activities outside of Goodwill.
Performs other duties as assigned by store leadership.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or General Equivalent Diploma preferred.
Minimum of six (6) months retail experience preferred.
Knowledge of books or a love of reading.
Basic computer knowledge, including email, word processing and Internet.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to bend, reach and stand for extensive periods of time and lift up to forty pounds.
May be required to lift heavier goods/items with the assistance of a team member.
Able to perform tasks that require repetitive motion, i.
e.
, tagging or pricing products.
Manual dexterity is required.
