Position Summary: This position is a “hands-on” leadership position that provides proactive strategic product regulatory and product stewardship direction for Barr and is accountable for providing leadership and direction in implementing the company’s regulatory strategies and ensuring that operations and products comply with regulations and company policies.
Develops and maintains processes, tools and management systems regarding product compliance, regulatory affairs and product stewardship.
Trains impacted employees on respective processes and tools to ensure product compliance and support of products to market.
Ensuring Barr products comply with all applicable regulations (domestic and international) and other laws that impact the distribution, sale, or use of Barr products (including FIFRA, VOC regulations, FHSA, TSCA and other raw material requirements, PPPA, and DOT and other packaging/component requirements.
Ensures Barr products comply with all applicable product stewardship, customer, value chain requirements and obligations.
Is responsible for federal and state pesticide registrations and renewals.
Will support and provide professional services to assist with compliance and regulatory matters before the EPA, Consumer Product Safety Commission, and related federal, state, county or regional agencies, including the preparation and filing of compliance documents in a timely manner.
This position will also provide regulatory and product stewardship guidance and support to members of marketing, R&D, and other departments as requested.
Work is performed under the general direction of the Chief Operating Officer & Chief Financial Officer with latitude for the exercise of independent judgment in the performance of day-to-day responsibilities.
This position is responsible for the overall direction and coordination of the regulatory function at Barr and manages one to two employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications/Experience:
JD degree from an accredited university with 3-5 years of experience in consumer products regulatory compliance or Bachelor’s degree in science field (Chemistry, Biochemistry, etc.
) and 5-7 years of experience in consumer products regulatory compliance or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and 7-10 years of experience in consumer products regulatory compliance.
Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
Must be able to synthesize complex or diverse regulatory information as well as collect and research data; must have excellent oral and written communication skills and confidence communicating with regulatory agencies as well as outside business partners and regulatory consultants; must have excellent proof-reading skills with excellent attention to detail; must have excellent organization, planning, analytical and problem solving skills, effective interpersonal skills; proficiency in the use of personal computer and Excel, Word, and Powerpoint; excellent quantitative skills; ability to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment; ability to organize and prioritize work assignments; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the Barr organization; ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
