SUMMARY Performs responsible bookkeeping duties and routine administrative functions for the Office of City Clerk in a municipal governmental corporation
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Must have general knowledge of Accounting Principles
Must have superior customer service skills
Team orientated and self-motivated
Daily interaction with the General Public by providing information, serve as Notary to the Public, issuance of Business Licenses and collection of appropriate fees, process public record requests, intake of claim reports and voter registration.
Assist with Purchase Order processing
Assist with Municipal Elections
Assist with purchasing for all City Departments
Assist with travel arrangements for all City Departments
Assist with preparation, storage and retrieval of City documents
Answers the telephone, takes and relays messages and responds to phone and customer inquiries.
Assists at counter answering questions and helping the public in researching information contained in a variety of public records.
Organizes and maintains files of records and correspondence of both a routine and confidential nature.
Prepares and maintains actions, decisions, notices, complaints and other documents as directed by the City Clerk.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job does not exercise supervisory responsibilities.

Must pass a background check

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); with courses in general office procedures, bookkeeping and computer entry.
Requires 2 years general business office experience, preferably including Customer Service and/or Accounting,
Skill in operating a personal computer, on-line computer terminal, various printers, fax machine and other office equipment are necessary.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos and to use good English.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information to co-workers and the general public.
Requires skill in the application of office methods and procedures.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING SKILLS Apply principles of logical thinking to define and solve problems or refer problems to appropriate supervisor; exercise judgment and discretion with regard to city and department policies and procedures.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS As required.
