Gastro One, a leading healthcare provider in Germantown, TN, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Surgery Scheduler.
In this critical role, you will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling surgical procedures, ensuring efficient communication between patients, healthcare providers, and surgical facilities.
Responsibilities: * *Surgical Procedure Scheduling:* * Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures based on physician recommendations and patient preferences.
* Liaise with surgical facilities to secure operating room availability and necessary resources.
* *Patient Communication:* * Communicate with patients to explain the surgical scheduling process, provide preoperative instructions, and address any concerns or questions.
* Confirm patient understanding of the surgical procedure, required preparations, and postoperative care.
* *Insurance Verification:* * Verify patient insurance coverage for surgical procedures, obtaining necessary pre-authorizations and ensuring accurate billing information.
* *Documentation:* * Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of scheduled surgeries, including patient information, procedure details, and surgical facility requirements.
* Input and update surgical scheduling information in electronic health record systems.
* *Collaboration:* * Collaborate with healthcare providers, surgeons, and other medical staff to ensure seamless coordination of surgical schedules.
* Work closely with the administrative team to address any scheduling conflicts or issues.
* *Preoperative Coordination:* * Coordinate preoperative assessments, tests, and clearances as required for each surgical procedure.
* Ensure that patients are well-informed and prepared for their surgical experience.

*Qualifications:* * High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in healthcare administration or a related field is preferred.
* Proven experience as a surgery scheduler or in a similar role within a healthcare setting.
* Familiarity with medical terminology, surgical procedures, and insurance processes.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in using electronic health record systems and scheduling software.
